Ayam Kampung Farming Course

Ayam Kampung Farming Course is a program involving participants from Kampung Nelayan, Jeram Kuala Selangor. Ayam Kampung Farming Program is a joint venture of three parties, Registered Semesta Foundation (YSB), IHRUM and Surya Coop, Jeram, Kuala Selangor. The course consists of three slots which including lecture, practical at ISB Farm and a group visit to the Ayam Kampung farms in Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat and Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan. This course is a preparatory for participants before they build their own chicken farm.

Lecture was given by Dr. Sa'adan bin Man entitled: The Concept of Halal and Slaughtering in Islam.

 

Participants were exposed to the method of chicks vaccination as a prevention of any infection of disease.

 

The sharing session by Encik Zamri Muhammad, a successful chicken farmer at his farm in Hulu Langat.

 

 

Implementation

 

The construction of the poultry hatchery has been conducted a week after the Ayam Kampung Farming Course.

 

The construction of the poultry hatchery approximately took around 2 weeks.

 

Entry of chicks on 29 October 2016. A total of 100 chicks are supplied to each participant as a trial batch before increasing the number of chicks in the upcoming round.

 

Inspection and scales of chickens were collected by IHRUM and YSB to ensure the growth and hygiene practices are well implemented by the participants.

 

 

First-round chicken sales

 

The participant's chickens were weighed after it reaches an optimum weight in the range of 800 gram to 1 kilogram for selling purposes.

 

Sales of chickens that have reached the optimum weight, to the buyer at Raja Bot Market, Kuala Lumpur.
