Halal Research in University of Malaya or its abbreviation HARUM is a first collaborative program between Equitable Society Research Cluster (ESRC), IHRUM and Academy of Islamic Studies. The program consists of various interesting activities such as halal research poster competition, halal discourse (Wacana Halal) by panelists expertise in their respective fields, sales booths by vendors and booths from other IPTA‘s research institutions. This one-day program has attracted hundreds of visitors and is expected to be continued in the coming years of Insyallah.

The public has begun filling Block A, Academy of Islamic Studies UM as early as 8.00 am to register either as a participant of Wacana Halal, research poster competition or as sales booth vendors.

The HARUM 2016 program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Noorsaadah Bt. Abdul Rahman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UM Research and Innovation.

Wacana Halal that held in the morning session was discussed on  the topic of Halal Business and has been presented by Tan Sri Muhammad Ali bin Hashim, (President of Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce) and Mr. Meor Rafeq bin Md. Rejab (Deputy President, Halal Fund, Malaysian Technology Development Corporation).

The assessment of research poster session was done by the appointed panel. This research poster competition is also participated by halal research institutions from outside UM.

Most of the booth, has been participated by the other halal research institute from different universities have enlivened the HARUM 2016 programme.

 There are 11 sales booths have been opened joining HARUM 2016 as well as to attract visitors to participate in this programme.

Some of the committee members who have given their efforts in conducting HARUM 2016 for the first time and may continue in the future.
