Welcome Remarks

Assalammualaikum w.b.t.

           Malaysia has become a country in the process of boosting the local halal industry globally. As a strategic Islamic nation with a strong foundation through halal certification standards, we have the potential to lead halal areas in both industry and research. As we know it, Malaysia has been recognized as an Islamic country, where Malaysia has expertise in various branches of knowledge and various facilities available for all forms of research and innovation. However, it is still not possible to fully implement the synergies of scholars in this country. Thus, the establishment of the University of Malaya Research Center or better known as UMHRC has been established as a halal research institute at the University of Malaya. It is seen as a turning point in developing a synergistic network between local and international scientists and conducting holistic halal research in promoting knowledge for the benefit of the universal community.

          UMHRC officially opened in June 2014 with its administrative office at the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. And now has moved to the High Impact Research Building, University of Malaya. In line with the motto of the UMHRC, "Educating the public through halal knowledge", various activities and programs have been organized to provide information on halal. UMHRC is currently moving towards conducting research across a range of disciplines as well as establishing research partnerships with local and international halal research organizations and institutions. Hopefully, UMHRC will be able to become a centre that has always contributed to the development of the halal field.
